Stepan, a tech reseller from Chelyabinsk, 25 years old, Chelyabinsk

My name is Stepan, I am 25 years old, I live in Chelyabinsk, and at the moment I am studying at university, so I do not have full-time employment as such. Working with Pochtoy.com and investing in electronics for resale on Avito allows me, while studying, to cover my living expenses and save money, providing an income of up to 70-80 thousand rubles per month.

How it all started: from building my own PC to discovering Pochtoy.com

I have always liked everything related to electronics. I am constantly testing something, checking its functionality, and configuring it — it has been a longtime hobby of mine. It started when I needed to assemble a computer and peripherals back in 2022. After looking at the prices of both new and used components on Avito, I decided to compare them with those found on foreign marketplaces, and I chose the US market because of its scale — there are a great many options and a wide range of prices. When I went to eBay, I was amazed by the variety of components in excellent condition at extremely attractive prices.

However, since many products simply cannot be shipped directly to Russia, I started exploring options for delivering goods to the Russian Federation, learned about mail forwarders and virtual addresses, opened many websites that Google returned in search results, and compared prices in the calculator for 0,5 \ 1 kg parcel delivery to my city.

The result — Pochtoy.com won, especially considering that parcel insurance was already included, so that is the one I chose.

I bought all kinds of components to check — was it worth it? As it turned out — absolutely yes, everything arrived safe and sound, and the descriptions fully matched reality.

On the same eBay there are many sellers with tens or even hundreds of thousands of reviews, which lets you be confident that the seller will not deceive you. Later on, I started ordering used Google Pixel smartphones, gradually buying good-condition smartphones at attractive prices both for myself and for my loved ones.

Purchases for myself and my family turned into a business on Avito

After mastering how to work with a mail forwarder in the form of Pochtoy.com, I got an idea: if I can buy electronics for myself at a good price, why not try reselling them on Avito?

That is how I began analyzing which categories of electronics are liquid and what I could make money on. I started dealing in both smartphones (mainly the same Google Pixel models), as well as headphones, VR headsets, e-readers, and much more.

When I was just starting out and had no reviews on my account, many buyers on Avito looked at my listings with distrust, but over time, thanks to quality service, communication with buyers at every stage, including — not forgetting to ask them to leave reviews — I have now accumulated more than 200 reviews and I am confidently moving forward.

How my workflow is organized

The entire sales process takes little time: I choose a product in my free time, place the order, fill out the declaration (thanks to the AI assistant built into Pochtoy.com, which now does it for me), pay, and wait for the product at the nearest pickup point. I open the parcel on camera — to be fair, I have never needed it; in 100+ delivered parcels, the goods have arrived in perfect condition. If the electronics are used, I test them, then list them on Avito, then arrange a meeting\delivery and ask for a review after receipt. All of this takes very little time, with no particular hassle, and brings a lot of benefit.

Best deals: why it is important to catch discounts

My most profitable deals were mainly thanks to sales of new electronics bought in the US at a big discount, which allowed me to make a good markup. I will give a couple of examples:

HP Reverb G2. This is a virtual reality headset whose manufacturer decided to sell off the remaining stock before releasing a new model, and therefore offered the maximum discount. I bought several for $350 and managed to sell them for $900 within two weeks of receiving them. Almost three times more!

Audeze LCD-2 Classic — well-known audiophile headphones made in the USA, which I managed to grab for $500 including delivery and customs payment. In Russia, I sold them for $775 within the same 2 weeks.

I often test new niches and see what the demand will be. Sometimes I manage to sell quickly, sometimes the item sits listed for a month and I can barely sell it at cost. But if you like testing different kinds of electronics and diving into this sales process (bargaining, delivery, reviews) — then you definitely will not be disappointed.

Five tips for beginner tech resellers

What advice would I give beginners:

1

Get a bank card from a foreign bank

Yes, it may seem banal, but this is a key tool for your efficient purchase of products abroad and payment for services both for yourself and for running sales. But if you are not sure whether it is worth spending money to open such a card — Pochtoy.com buyers can help you make your first trial purchases, I consider this the best option for a test, especially since there is a promo code for free buyout.

2

Carefully read the description and seller ratings on eBay

If you see a great price on, say, an iPhone — make sure the seller's rating is above 90% and the total number of reviews is more than 100. This is especially relevant for your first purchases, when you do not know where the pitfalls may arise — I would not recommend taking risks and dealing with questionable sellers. It is also worth looking at the detailed product description to see whether yet another „glitchy camera" or „random restarts" is hidden there.

3

Watch your rating and provide the best service

If you decide to sell and develop your profile on Avito — look at the descriptions in other advanced accounts, adopt their style, adapt it to yourself, take as many photos of the product from different angles as possible, stay in touch, and communicate politely with potential buyers. Remember that your attitude toward them is the core of your future rating.

4

Evaluate the market

Sometimes a smartphone may seem profitable at first glance, but never forget to look up the same model on Avito, preferably across all regions. It may well turn out that the very same „great price" on Ebay\Amazon is not really that great compared to what can be found here. Your product must be competitive both in price and in condition.

5

Do not be afraid to try

At the very least, you can order something for yourself, and once you understand how easy it is — any doubts will quickly disappear.

I wish all future sellers good luck, and remember — not only are you creating a way to earn money, you are also filling the market with affordable electronics at a time when, due to sanctions, there is a shortage of quality equipment.
