Gymshark Apparel. The New "Nike"?

“Young people only want to buy brands that are popular within their circles and align with their own values. And we're simply a community that also happens to sell things.”

The History of the Gymshark Brand in the USA Through the Eyes of Our Specialists.

Gymshark Brand History

The Gymshark story began relatively recently. In 2012, 19-year-old Ben Francis went to the gym with a friend. Having become passionate about bodybuilding, he decided to make money in this niche.

Ben became interested in creating apps. Starting with websites to order, he released four fitness apps. One of them, IPhusique, even made it into the top of the British “Fitness” category. In the app, you could find out how to pump certain muscle groups and how to understand the machines in the gym.

Having had enough fun with apps, Ben and his friends created a website for bodybuilders called Gymshark. At first, there was no clothing on the website. They sold proteins, gainers and dietary supplements, which friends purchased using the dropshipping method. Ben even delivered pizza from Pizza Hut to accumulate initial capital and buy a machine on which the first models of sportswear were sewn.

Gymshark Sportswear in the Early Days of the Brand

After promoting the site, Francis, Hewitt and Richards decided to add sportswear there for bodybuilders. Ben thought — bodybuilders spend tons of time and effort achieving the perfect physique, but are forced to wear clothes that don’t highlight it at all. Why not change that?

Said and done. First, Gymshark rented a stand at a British sporting goods exhibition and started selling tank tops. Imagine their surprise when on the very first day buyers wouldn’t leave them alone, and revenue reached $42 000.

Official Gymshark.com website

It’s no secret that Gymshark clothing is not very accessible in Russia, so the main and most reliable source for it remains the online store.

The Gymshark site is divided into two main sections: women’s and men’s. On the homepage, new arrivals come first, followed by current items for workouts and home training.

In addition to the women’s and men’s categories, the site also has the following subsections:

  • Trending
  • Products
  • Collections
  • Accessories

The “Trending” section features the latest arrivals, must-have bestsellers, running gear, models for home workouts and comfortable at-home leisure.

If you prefer searching by model, in Products you’ll find subsections for leggings, crop tops, hoodies and jackets, shorts, sports bras, swimsuits, tops and T-shirts, and underwear.

The Collections section will be useful for those who follow Gymshark collections.

And finally, accessories. Here you’ll find bags, gym bottles, headbands, masks, socks, gloves — in short, useful and convenient little items for training.
